Walks in the Zug region

Aegeri-
Menzingen:

Half an hour from Zug this regions are excellent for walks. Walk along the Aegeri lake or enjoy an easy roundtrip on Raten/Gottschalkenberg.
Explore Menzingen and the Drumlins, Gubel with undisturbed view over the Lorze plains.

Albis

A historically interesting area. Walking in this area is also most rewarding for the variety of scenery.

Cham A walk along the lake to the "Villette Park" in Cham.
Hoellgrotten  

 

Lorzentobel

A well known spot for the caves. For the locals and their kids it's a favorite recreation area in hot summer days.
Walk to the ruins of the old citadel Wildenburg.

Enjoy a walk in this marvelous area, which is also a historic landmark for Industrialization. 

Immensee Visit at Hohle Gasse and walk to Zugersee
Michaelskreuz The hill across Zugersee offers a marvelous view
Reussspitz A protected area between where rivers Reuss and Lorze merge.

Not only a romantic eating place for having a trout or two, the way there and along the river Sihl is something to enjoy.
Included in this page is an extended tour Menzingen-Finstersee-Wilersee. Moraine hills and Drumlins of the last ice age give this lovely region a special character. 

Baar-
Steinhauserwald
From Blickensdorf up to Banaebni, then into the forest and on to the forest lake. Beautiful views.
Tierpark Goldau

In walking distance from the railway station (Most Fast trains will stop here) is a popular place, not only for kids. You are fenced in with free running Deers, Goats, Chicken, Ducks...There are picnic places, fireplaces and a Restaurant.

In this little citadel are interesting exhibits, e.g. old clocks. Even if you don't want to enter, the citadel and surrounding is well worth the short walk (10 minutes from Zytturm).

Zugerberg  

Has a wide selection of different walking tracks and many fireolaces and a playground for kids. The moor is a protected area with pleasant walking tracks.

Zug, Guided walks:

Between end of May and October, on Saturday's there are guided walking tours  in the old town. Meeting point is the Zollhaus (the open building near Zytturm) at 10 am (5 Franken). http://www.zugtourismus.ch/. Usually it's advertised in the "Amtsblatt" as well.

Zytturm:    

This tower was an important gate into the walled city of Zug. It's not only a monument for picture postcards, you may also climb up to the cozy chamber high above the Altstadt.

Hochstuckli Sattel-Hochstuckli with the round circuit "Erlebnispfad Engelstock" offers a lovely walking trail.
